Vanadis 4E(Bohler-Uddeholm) - Bohler-Uddeholm PM steel. High wear and chipping resistance, very good ductility. All that translates into very good knife steel. In the small knives and folders Vanadis 4E can reach 66-67HRC, and its performance is just superb. At lower hardness it still outperforms lots of popular alloys for large blades. if corrosion resistance is not a concern, one of the best choices for knives. Very few custom makers use it, and as far as I know, Knife Research made a blade out of it, although just at 60HRC, which was a lot of unrealized potential in my opinion. Fred Haakonsen Vanadis 4E Utility knife I have is at 66HRC, and for light/medium cutting never had a single chip for years.
