Carbinox T508(Bonpertuis) - Semi stainless steel, apparently Bonpertuis patented, or proprietary. Main highlight being ease of sharpening. Advertised working hardness 56-57HRC. Used by several Euro knife making companies. I am not so sure how this alloy can be viewed as an achievement of any kind, as some sources claim, but it is never the less. According to another source, it was developed to solve sharpening problems with AISI 440A, and I have hard time considering that as an achievement either, if 440A is difficult to sharpen, that's only because on occasion it is too soft, unable to sustain any kind of the edge. The rest of the alloying components are not specified, however given the feedback, I doubt very much there's anything worthy mentioning in it. Ok choice for budget knives.
